Mainly, the people and their values. If you speak to ista employees you’ll find that all of them are respectful, kind and they know what they are talking about

Do you like to work on new challenges?

Definitely yes. However, you also need some common stable ground to base the challenges on. Otherwise you’ll lose focus.

Can you remember your first project at ista?

Sure, it’s not that long ago since I am with ista for only 3 ½ years. It was the replacement of a web application within the portal. It was fund since we together managed to renew almost everything, the tech stack, the tooling, the infrastructure and the processes. Everything towards Microservices and DevOps including Containerization. It was a rollercoaster but we succeeded. I am really proud on my people.

What convinced you to come to ista?

The fact that I had one of the best application processes I have ever experienced with my colleagues: Very dedicated contact persons, pleasant and interesting conversations and the feeling of being in good hands right away.

Who are your favourite people to work with?

First of all of course my amazing Team Collaboration / Websites and our Head Of, Ralf. Since we mostly offer corporate solutions, I also stay in contact with colleagues from many other countries or departments, which is a very interesting and inspiring mix.

When did you write code for the first time?

I think it was while building the first homepage, back at the age of 14 or 15 when I started to play guitar and joined my first band.

What convinced you to come to ista?

First of all: The people! Furthermore, the chance to help in creating a new department within an established company, with a very clear focus on digital solutions. Bringing together business and IT experts in order to create better customer experiences and state of the art service experiences, in an industry where customer centricity was not always in focus, that’s a challenge I wanted to take. And as a bonus: The fact that ista’s head office is located in my home town.

What is the composition of your team?

My team, which is called Marketing Technology, is acting as a proxy between the different departments of the German business unit and several teams within the IT organization. We are currently seven people working on a bunch of different projects, which all have one thing in common: They are Sales and/or Marketing related. We strive to collect and refine requirements for IT solutions, consult on possible solutions and translate between business and IT.

What does the future of IT look like to you?

A smarter way of interaction between humans and machines, meaning a higher degree of automation (robots) within the IT systems and their ability to “ask the right questions at the right time”, through machine-to-machine communication (API’s) and AI

In my opinion ista is the perfect place to be. It operates in a very dynamic market that is changing rapidly and embraces digitalization. At the same time istas business model and ownership structure guarantees a rather stable and secure base from develop from.

I lead a team of specialists in the fields of Customer Insights & Analytics, Performance Marketing, User Experience & Design, Marketing Technology and Product Ownership. 

What would you still like to learn?

I’d definitely like to be more creative – in a design kind of way. But I my gut feeling in terms of self-assessment leans toward talentlessness in that area...

Who are your favourite people to work with?

I enjoy working with people who bring passion and positivity and want to make an impact. For me a collaborative workplace where people master challenges together and are curious to try new things leads to shared achievements and growth.

What are your tasks?

As Talent Acquisition Partner I am responsible for the entire recruiting process for our IT. This includes ensuring a great candidate experience and inspiring new talents for ista. 

I get to know many different personalities and together with my colleagues from the different IT teams we evaluate if there is a fit between the candidate, the job profile and ista. In addition, I am advancing projects within the HR context.

What would you still like to learn?

I am currently completing a training to become a systemic coach and I am looking forward to further deepen my knowledge in this field.

I am part of the system team located in the head office and in our TecHub in Gliwice.

Testing of E2E processes of international service tools for several countries.

Which characteristics of an employer are particularly important to you?

I work part time and I was able to adjust the amount based on my personal needs. Furthermore I can decide for myself the precise working hours.

Who are your favourite people to work with?

Motivated people that are willing to embrace change; Open people that like to challenge opinions; People that are willing to go the extra mile for a better solution instead of taking a short cut; Tech nerds with an eye for the details.

Do you like to work on new challenges?

Absolutely, and there are lots of them at ista. New digital business opportunities arise, we need to handle the IT for it. Big Data, managing millions of IoT devices, scaling to the cloud - just to name a few, and in an international environment. I also like that with our products, we can make an environmental difference.

What would you still like to learn?

Of course I always try to stay on top of technology, but it is also important to look left and right. Attend communication seminars regularly. Never stop learning. I would like to learn an instrument one day. I skipped that as a kid.

How did you find your way to ista?

I was approached by a specialized personnel consultancy and placed.

What convinced you to come to ista?

Basically, 2 aspects persuaded me to join ista. Firstly, the exciting task of being able to build up Active Sourcing at ista and secondly, the team. During my application process, I got to know 6 employees and was impressed by their personalities and the interdisciplinary atmosphere.

What are your tasks?

My job is to identify and approach IT specialists and professionals for our TecCrew. In addition, my task is also to inspire potential colleagues for ista and to give our company a face. 

How does ista support your personal goals?

My personal goal is the successful expansion of active sourcing activities, including the implementation of related processes. In doing so, I am given a lot of freedom in the design of the toolbox. Through our shared values, professional exchange with colleagues and internal/external training on specific topics, ista supports me in achieving my goal.

How did you find ista?

Actually I bumped into ista when I was working in my former job as a software consultant and business developer.

What convinced you to come to ista?

To be honest the people I met before and during my interview. I was sitting in the lobby and everyone was greeting me while passing through. It was an atmosphere of friendliness that is hard to find these days. Later on during the interview Markus and Sacha (still my colleagues today) were so kind and welcoming so my only answer could be yes!

Who are your favourite people to work with?

Beside the team in Essen I truly love to work with the TecHub team in Poland. We have accomplished great missions together. Of course my direct team Clarissa, Deborah and Annabell (you can meet them left and right ;-) which I´m so proud of every day: Together they take on a lot of challenging homework that needs to be dealt with.

Which working conditions at ista inspire you?

People supporting people, no boundaries, commitment – less bullshit, less politics.

How does ista support your personal goals?

It´s been almost 7 years for me with ista – never boring. If you are willing to take-over responsibility you will grow. The last 2 years have been mind-blowing thanks to Karl who is setting the scene for us as IT being a respected, trustworthy, supportive and future-oriented partner for our business team. Right now I have the opportunity to use my entire toolbox of what I have learned in the past 22 years. That is why I love to go to work every day.

Thx, doing great. A lot of work to do but this is how I like it. 

What convinced you to come to ista?

I just had a good feeling about this company in the recruiting process. And that feeling did not go away so far.

Who are your favourite people to work with?

Open minded, ambitious people with hunger to learn more. It also helps to have just the right sense of humor, especially when it comes to laugh about yourself. 

What was your first project at ista?

I was assigned with the evaluation of Jira in 2012. One of my all-time favorite projects. It started small and got really big over the years. 

What does the future of IT look like to you?

I think the IT evolves in trends that sometimes repeat themselves. In general, I see a spectrum between bottom-up approaches and top-down approaches. This holds for technology as well as for organization. Successful people will pick the right tools and methods for the job at hand. And there will always be some hype around to keep it interesting.
My personal hope is that we are going to see a really open web with clear standards and same conditions for everyone. I believe we lost a bit of the original values that made it so great and successful in its early years.

What was your first project at ista?

I have been working at iSS for over 14 years. I started as an operation employee dealing with billing USA properties until the Danish customer decided to transfer part of the billing process to Poland. I was one of the three brave who were trained first in DK. This is how I started working in Mirus application. 

What are your tasks?

I am currently working as Mirus application and Mirus automation support for Denmark, France, Poland, Czech Republic and Romania. I efficiently solve the problems of Mirus users using the business knowledge from the previous department and my growing knowledge about the application architecture.

Which working conditions at ista inspire you?

Working in the IT department was a new start for me. I felt like Alice in Wonderland. I was a non-technical employee in the technical department and I faced new challenges such as a new work environment, new people and new tasks. I found myself in a new role thanks to the curiosity about how developers write code, how the applications being developed and how the hell it all works. 

What would you like to do more of at ista?

Currently, I am interested in project management and business analysis. I notice that I am developing with the company's development. It is a win-win situation that I wish every employee in their professional career.

Hi 😊 I am fine, despite the pandemic still positive.

How did you find ista?

Right after graduating from technical school, I started looking for a job. I found out about Ista from my friends, and because I can speak German well, I got into German Billing section. After a few years I took part in the recruitment process to the IT department. It was something completely new for me and I was very interested in it. I managed to pass all recruitment stages without any problems, and so here I am. 

What is the composition of your team?

My team is made up of individuals who are full of different passions. Each of us has different hobbies, interests and skills that we exchange. Apart from that, these people are engaged in their work and very willing to work together. I enjoy spending time with my team (currently mostly online due to the current situation) not only during work time but also outside of it.

Which tasks do you like the most?

A task that was very important to me, and still is, is migrating users to a common domain. This is one of the bigger projects, so I've been putting a lot of thought into it. I liked this task mainly because I could get to know Ista employees from different countries and work with them.

ista found me :) A headhunter contacted me and asked for an interview. Even though I wasn't looking for a new job, I said why not? I've always liked new challenges. I have successfully passed all stages of the recruitment process and here I am!

What convinced you to come to ista?

The first thing I noticed during the first stages of recruitment was a friendly atmosphere and respectful, partnership approach to me as a candidate. ista fulfilled all the conditions important to me as an HR specialist: excellent information flow during recruitment, friendly attitude, good employment conditions.

Working at ista has confirmed my good impressions, I’ve met wonderful and open people here (yes, such people work in IT at ista :)), I have possibility to engage in interesting and developmental projects, the company gives me confidence and enables me to implement my ideas. What are your tasks?

I’m responsible for employer branding, IT recruitment and the onboarding process, work closely with management, team leaders and their teams from the IT department to constantly improve employee engagement, development and motivation.

What does the future of IT look like to you?

IT is one of the most exciting and fastest growing areas in the world and also at ista. As an HR specialist, there is always a lot of work to do at ista due to the constant development of IT departments. I’m extremely happy to be part of this cosmic space in our company!
